Proverbs 3:5&6
Jeffrey and Marianna work on the home front alongside Keith and Karen Lindsay and Peter Moore. Jeffrey is involved in taking church meetings, speaking about the work of the mission, and encouraging people to pray and support the work. He also edits the Acre In Touch magazine, where he has to gather and in some cases translate the various reports that come in. Marianna is developing the Kids Programme called Acre Kids, designing the Kids Magazine and taking kids meetings and Ladies meetings. Have a look at our Acre Kids page to see what else we offer and please get in contact with us. Together they are also involved in the work of Revive, which is the young adults work within the mission, which involves encouraging young 18-30 year olds to be more involved in mission work, and organising meetings for them where they can be challenged further about the need there is on the mission field.
My name is Jeffrey Ferguson, and I grew up just outside Cookstown. I was saved at an early age, and after leaving school I began working in a local factory, but always had an interest in mission work. I was involved in several different mission teams, and some of those teams included going to Fatima in Portugal with Acre. Eventually, I felt God was leading me into full time work for Him and so I left my employment, and entered the New Tribes bible college for 1 year of bible study. Here I met my wife to be, Marianna. I then went off to Portugal to begin working for Acre International full time, and spent the first 4 months there in language learning in a city called Coimbra. Following this I moved to Santo Andre to work alongside Acre missionaries Aroldo and Emmanuelle Areas. I was involved in all aspects of church life and ministry, and began over time to get a good grasp of the language which enabled me to communicate better with the Portuguese people. Marianna moved to Portugal to be able to get involved in the work, and for us to be able to plan our future together. After we were married in 2020 we served in Portugal until we moved back to Northern Ireland at the end of that year.
My name is Marianna Ferguson. I was born in Germany in a christian home. From a young age I heard all about God and the Bible but only in my teenage years I understood that I needed Jesus as my Saviour. From that day onwards I started serving God in my church by doing Sunday School, Kids Camps and singing. The desire to go into full time ministry started growing in my heart more and more. So after finishing my degree as a Social Worker in Uni, I decided to volunteer at a School in Brazil for 3 months. Coming home I knew in my heart that God wanted me to go into full time ministry. After working for a couple of years, I signed up to the New Tribes Bible College in England, where I then met Jeffrey, my now husband. Returning home to Germany and having a good conversation with my Pastor, I signed up to the CEF Training Institute in Switzerland. I always loved working with kids and young people and my church gave me the opportunity to work for the church full time for about a year. I really enjoyed that year and learned so much from my Pastor about the challenges of working in full time ministry. In 2018, I joined Jeff in Portugal, as I wanted to get to know more about his work with Acre. While living in the church apartment, I started language classes and tried helping out as much as possible in the church in Santo André. We worked there in Santo André until 2021 until we had to leave and settle here in Northern Ireland.
